Bars, bistros and restaurants in a solar powered indoor ski resort in the desert follows a glacier path down the mountain, their location on the slopes and thematic design reflecting different states of water, from ice at the peak to lake at the bottom.
The aim of the strategically placed bars, bistros and restaurants is to enhance the experience of the skier through innovative, always surprising, environments.
Following the path of the mountain the restaurants and bars continue the development of the different states of water. The adventure begins in the sunken lounges of the Peak Hotel, where crystal and ice is the thematic start of the ‘cool’ experience. Lounges and bistros have spectacular views of Jebel Hafeet and direct access to the ski dome. Designed around the theme of the glacier iceberg bars reflect the idea of an icy rock in the desert.
Masses of ice found in the peak turns into snow in the Snow Dome bar, which takes the visitor into the depths of the glacier amidst conserved prehistoric animals.
The skier warms up in the deep red lava forms of the Glühwein bar, an interpretation of the inner earth. The journey continues to ‘thaw’ when the skier enters the Iceberg bar a mid point pit stop, where the experience is all about the special light conditions found under water, caustics and reflections.
The final stop for the adventurer before reaching the Boutique Hotel is the Tundra Valley restaurant, where the ice age is transformed and visitors experience an extraordinary vision, a counterpart to the desert, an array of exotic plants.
Melting snow inspired the fluid spaces and curvaceous forms that submerge guests in sunken ice lounges in the Boutique Hotel. White translucid surfaces, minimalist forms and white curvaceous furniture give a futuristic sense of escape from the ordinary together with panoramic views of the ski slope.
